So, who does Dllenakh resemble? I'm got Carl Lumbly in my head. Those eyes, so sad. And those hands, so correct.

My goodness, the cheekbones, the gravitas! That's a good bit of casting.

You're right about the eyes, though. Maybe he's more Sovek? I'd already cast Idina Menzel as Dr Mar, so I had pictured Sovek as black (in honour of, though not resembling, Taye Diggs).

If not Lumbly for Dllenakh why not David Straithairn? Maybe Sam Waterson? I'm a bit of a loon, I'd be happy to see Richard Belzer tilt at it. Actually, I'd love Belzer for Sovek, now that I think of it.

Hmm - I think Lumbly is more Dllenahkh than these new candidates. I don't picture Dllenahkh as greying at all. Mature, but not greying, older, but still vigorous enough for frontier life. Still, I like the way you're thinking ... some very patrician-looking men there.

Sovek could indeed be greying. He should look as if extreme sorrow had aged him.

Oh, and for some reason, I picture Dllenahkh as not being in the tall skinny Vulcan mold. More mesomorphic, with fairly powerful arms, and closer to 5' 10" than 6'. Imposing more in breadth than height, but not too broad. We're not talking Danny DeVito here.

I am trying to think of a blocky, broad man who is wider from shoulder to shoulder and flank to flank than anywhere else.

Yes, you've got it. :)

As to who I have in mind, I think I should go browsing in the dailies. But in general, I like my Vulcans looking quite Mediterranean - either Italian or Greek - or Mexican like Anthony Quinn. The demographics of Cygnus Beta are, as you know, more Caribbean than anything, but with a stronger strain of everyone from Aztecs to Inuit. I actually see Delarua as part NatAm, part Betazoid (and sadly enough, my Betazoids look quite Greek too).

The Consul looks like a blend of Toni Morrison and Golda Meir, Fergus basically looks like Michael Dorn without the Klingon makeup, Lian looks Northern Indian/Nepali (like a Gurkha), and Joral is your typical tall, skinny (and adolescent skinny at that) dark haired, olive-skinned Vulcan.

I toyed with the idea of having Tarik and Veris related to Tuvok, so they are black, or at least melanin-rich, Vulcans.

While I'm dreaming, how 'bout Sir Ben as Sovek? If not Kingsley why not Nana Patekar? He is fierce.
